Dr Tran, if you had read the entire post and not just the list you would have seen I didn't take credit for the list. I had said this is the list that I use Not saying I wrote the list. So to make you HAPPY I deleted it and posted my own. So if you would please cool your jets and keep your opinions to yourself if you don't want to read stuff in its entirety
or use pm's instead of accusing people. And that goes for the other board also.

Hey everyone. Im James From Cali that had put a list together. I actually had a few questions about some of the plants listed. Myriophyllum mattogrossense and Mexican Oakleaf are usually higher light plants. What have been your experiences with them in lower light? What are the parameters of the tanks they are in? Alot of things I have researched say they cannot be grown in lower light without some negative effects.

Hi James, Most plants that are listed as medium light can be grown in low light. The myrio and mexican oakleaf that you are asking about are low to medium light. I have some in 2 different tanks. One in medium light and one in low. In the lower light they will grow slower but doesn't thrive as good as in medium to higher light. It isn't dieing and has been in the tank for a few month.

Oh yeah, Welcome to the site.

Forgot the parameters. My ph on my tanks is 7.2 Lighting on one is 1 watt per gal. One is 1.5 wpg and the other is 4 wpg. I have the plants in question in the last 2. High light tank gets EI dosing and the 1.5 gets ferts twice a week with excel added daily.

Thanks. Smile

Its interesting that you say about medium light plants being grown in lower light since I have HC starting to spread in my 10g with 1 wpg and that is a high light plant Smile. Are POGOSTEMON STELLATUS ‘BROAD’ and Alternanthera ficoidea (CherryHedge) in any of your lower light setups by any chance

No, I have them in a high light setup. And as you know the cherry hedge isn't actually an aquatic plant and will eventually die submerged.

The top list is just a list of the plants that I have and it isn't a full list.

Susan, I'm not trying to start a flame war. But as the first post was in my quote ealier, you only listed the plants. Never mentioning the orgin. Only later did u say that u added some of ur own plants. I assume u mean read the entire thread. But the first post is identical to his post. I just wanted to say, give creidt where it's due as it is jame's list. I'm sorry if u interpreted as me trying to attack u but I had no such intentions.

Only that he has a wounderful list so that if people were interested in such a list, they should check the orginal so they can see the updated list.

Now back onto the topic, HC is commonly regarded as a high light plant because when it first came out, it was so rare no one took any chances for it and grew it under the best conditions. I never had much luck with it in less than 2 wpg but your growth at 1 wpg is amazing. Did u use ferts or co2 at that wattage?
